Orange Habanero is a very hot pepper, originally from the Amazon region of South America, and now grown throughout the continent of the Americas. These peppers start out green and will turn orange as they ripen. The orange Habanero is the sweetest of all colors of Habanero and therefore delicious in dishes. Orange Habaneros have a Scoville Heat Unit of between 200,000 and 350,000 SHU. Certain varieties of habaneros were considered the hottest peppers in the world for many years, but have been replaced by an increasing number of newer varieties of peppers such as the Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper) and the Caroline Reaper.

In Mexico, habanero peppers can be found in most markets, especially in the states of Tabasco, Campeche, Quintana Roo, Sonora, Veracruz, Chiapas and Baja California Sur. The state with the largest production, however, is Yucatán, estimated to have more than 1,400 hectares in production in 2007.

These seeds give a strong growing plant that produces many peppers. The peppers will be about 4 inches long and 3 inches wide. The orange Habanero Francisca is tangy, thick-skinned with deliciously fruity and aromatic flesh. They ripen from green to orange. The plant itself has a green stem, green leaves and white flowers. This plant will not only give delicious peppers, but also looks great in, for example, a pot in your vegetable garden, indoors or in the greenhouse.

Make sure you give the Habanero plant sufficient and good plant nutrition and the soil is well-drained. Pepper plants can withstand dry soil well, but do not like feet that are too wet. They would rather be a little dry than too wet.
