Sowing and growing eggplant

Start by filling your seed trays or pots with a suitable soil for eggplant. Proper watering is crucial, so make sure the soil is well moist before you plant the seeds.
Spread the eggplant seeds evenly, about 0.5 cm apart.
Cover the seeds with a fine layer of soil, compost or vermiculite.
Place the trays in a propagator or cover them with plastic wrap in which you have poked small holes for ventilation.
Keep the soil moist, but be careful not to get too wet to avoid disease in eggplants.
Once the seeds have germinated and the seedlings are robust enough, repot each seedling into its own P9 pot.
After the icing season, when there is no more chance of frost, the seedlings can be planted out in the greenhouse about 45 cm apart. Eggplants love sun, so pick a sunny spot.
Eggplant seeds need a warm environment for germination temperature. A heated propagator or a spot on the windowsill over the heater are ideal.
