These radish seeds yield a second-generation radish variety called Saxa 2. It is suitable for field and cover crops in early spring to early fall. The radish is of good quality and has a subtle, not too spicy flavor.

Description

There is only one month between sowing and harvesting with this variety of radish. However, the plants must be given the right light conditions to produce a rich crop. Saxa 2 develops medium-sized, spherical radishes and short, sturdy leaf rosettes. Their flesh is quite hard, white in color and sometimes glassy. It has a silky crimson skin around it. It has no predisposition to cracking and warping, and their even shape is one of the most attractive features of these radishes. Moreover, it is of great pleasure that the Saxa 2 has a mild flavor, which makes it very accessible in salads, for example.

Cultivation

The best time to sow radish seeds directly into the ground is between March and May, between August and September and between February and March for sheltered cultivation. The plants needen spacing where the distance between the rows is about 20 cm and the distance between the plantlets is about 5-10 cm. The harvest window for bulbs is from April to June or September to October.

Fertilization

It is important to note that type Saxa 2 generally does not require supplemental feeding, while it does have a somewhat higher calcium requirement. However, it is worth fertilizing the soil in your vegetable garden before you begin cultivation, especially on a commercial plantation. Because of the tendency for toxins such as lead, cadmium or nitrates to accumulate in the roots, you must consider what kind of fertilizer you use. For example, do not use fresh cow manure; it contains too many nitrates. Preferably use other organic manure, such as Franky’s Flora worm manure.
