Bean seeds ‘Yin Yang’
Buy bean seeds
These bean seeds produce the unique black and white ‘Yin Yang’ bean, also called orca bean or cow bean. Because of its bushy, relatively clay growth, it can easily be grown on the balcony, in a pot or in a field, allotment or vegetable garden. The plant produces numerous, broad, vivid green, oval-shaped pods. They do not have a hard, inedible parchment covering. The 4 to 5 attractive seeds in each pod are unique because they are white and black with a distribution of colors reminiscent of the yin and yang symbol, a Chinese cultural icon. There is even a black spot on the white part, and a white spot on the black part. This also makes these vegetables very fun for children to eat.
In the second half of spring or the first few weeks of summer, Yin Yang seeds can be planted directly into the ground. Growing in pots is the other option; if you choose this method, the seeds can be grown indoors in a growing container pre-seeded…. For healthy germination, growth and flowering, seedlings need a sunny location in your vegetable garden, as well as a relatively heavy, fertile and moist but permeable soil. Starting in mid-September, you can harvest the green pods, with the black and white beans inside. After harvesting, you can consume the seeds whole, cooked or baked. The raw, white and black beans can be dried to not only keep longer, but also be of decorative value.
