Description
Since the vegetative period lasts about 130 days, the species develops very slowly. It produces beautiful, perfect bulbs of onion. They can grow huge because of their diameter of 6 to 8 cm and their weight of 190 to 220 grams. So this onion is definitely making inroads in your vegetable garden. They have thick, snow-white husks surrounding their tough, delicious flesh. Agostana onions have a very nice flavor that is moderate compared to other varieties, but still has a hint of spice. Their user-friendly properties make them ideal as salad onions, or as toppings on sandwiches. Both the fresh vegetable market and the processing industry want the crops of this variety. Use them as soon as possible, as they are less suitable for long-term storage.

Cultivation
It is recommended to grow Agostana in the spring. In late March or through mid-April, the seeds are placed directly in a permanent spot. The optimum space between growing onions is set at 8 to 10 cm, so overly dense emergence should be addressed early enough. Keep in mind that the distance between the rows should be about 30 to 40 cm. The first crop of attractive, mature onions should be ready for harvest between the third period of July and mid-September.

Tip:

A well prepared substrate is the guarantee of high yields when growing Agostana onions. It is recommended to plow the soil to a depth of about 20 cm in the fall. Then in spring, loosen and harrow the substrate after crumbling the crust and leveling the surface.
