Biquinho peppers, often called Little Beak peppers or Sweety Drops, come from Brazil. They belong to the genus Capsicum chinense, the same species as some of the world’s hottest peppers, and are a rare mild pepper (500 to 1,000 SHU). The pepper is about 2.5 cm long, rounded at the top with a distinct tip and resembles a small beak. But what makes it even more distinctive is the powerful citrus flavor that each fruit packs, resembling a habanero. This is unusual for peppers with modest hit levels like the red Biquinho.
The drop-shaped red Biquinho peppers bear a striking resemblance to a small bird’s beak. The fruit itself has a teardrop shape and grows to a length of between 0.5 and 2.5 cm, spherical at one end and tapering to a point at the other.
As is the case with most peppers, red biquinho peppers turn from green to red as they ripen. And as they develop, their flavor and spiciness increase. Yellow biquinho peppers are also offered for sale.
The plant itself can reach a height of up to 1 meter and produces an abundance of fruit. Usually a plant will yield 50 or more fruits. The biquinho fits nicely into most medium to large containers, making it an ideal size for growing in pots.
The mild spiciness of the biquinho is unique. It has every delicious fruity flavor you would expect from chinense peppers at the top of the Scoville scale. Biquinho has a fruity-sweet flavor tinged with citrus and a bit of floral sweetness.
Red Biquinho pepper seeds
These Red Biquinho seeds come from selected growers who carefully isolate and dry their pepper seeds from their strongest plants. This eliminates the chance of cross-pollination, and our seeds deliver great germination.
Organic pepper seeds
Our Red Biquinho pepper seeds come from an Ethno botanist. Ethnobotany is the study of the relationship between humans and plants. By taking this into account, the plants, and therefore pepper seeds, are grown strictly organically.
