Sowing and growing carrots

Want to sow and grow carrots? That’s not so very difficult! Root vegetables, called carrots or roots, are popular for their sweet taste and high nutritional value. Sowing carrots: when to do it?

Carrots, or carrots, are slow germinators, which is why it’s fine to start “early. Many root species you grow in 60 to 70 days. Especially in winter, for example, it can take a long time for carrot seeds to germinate. So in December, January, and other cold months, it is advisable to shield them with a fleece as well. This is light but also insulating. Of course, you can also sow them in the warmer months:

Summer carrot: sow from March to July

Winter carrot: sow from April to May

Do you have a greenhouse? Then you can also sow carrots in October and November.

TIP: Always sow your carrot seeds where you want to harvest them. Roots don’t like transplanting or transplanting! Germination can take as long as 3 or 4 weeks.

Sowing carrots in brief

Growing roots needs some patience because of the long germination and growth time. Here we give you a few short steps on how best to grow carrots.

In brief:

Choose quality carrot seeds.
Sow 1 cm deep in airy soil where water can be well drained.
Keep about 30 cm distance between rows.
Plant a seed every 3 cm at 0.5/1 cm deep, and water regularly.
Keep soil consistently moist until seedlings emerge after 7 to 14 days.
When the seedling genes are about 5 inches tall, thin them out so that they are about 5 to 7 inches apart.
Water root seedlings regularly so that they are always moist, but not too wet.
After 60 to 80 days, the roots are mature and ripe. As soon as the top of the root can be seen, you can harvest them.
