The two-year-old variety of kale known as “Halbhoher Grüner Krauser,” or Half-Height Green Krauser, (Brassica oleracea var. Sabellica) produces beautiful, light green cabbages. The plant grows about 90 cm tall. The leaves are long and slender, heavily corrugated and have a young grassy green hue. They have a light, refreshing taste.

Kale is ideal for decorating flower beds in your vegetable garden, these do not necessarily have to be flower beds for vegetables. It prefers sunny locations because the plant will do poorly in partial shade. It has low soil requirements and can thrive in sandy soils with a pH of about 7.
